Charging Forward is an open, community‑centred learning hub created to support informed choices about zero‑emission vehicles (ZEVs) and electric vehicle charging. It is designed for northern, rural, remote, Indigenous and underserved communities, and for anyone who wants clear, practical information grounded in real‑world experience.

This portal brings together resources that reflect how people actually live, travel, and make decisions. Here, you’ll find information about ZEV costs, driving range, and charging that takes into account cold weather, longer distances, accessibility needs, and local infrastructure realities. All materials are free to access, easy to understand, and intended for everyday use by individuals, families, community organizations, and leaders.

Developed by the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) in partnership with clean‑transportation organizations, accessibility experts and Indigenous communities, Charging Forward responds directly to the questions and concerns that matter most:

  • How much do ZEVs really cost, beyond the sticker price?
  • How far can they go in everyday driving, including in winter?
  • How does charging actually work, and how often is it needed?
  • What does accessible charging look like, and why does it matter?
  • How can ZEVs support community well‑being, local priorities, and environmental stewardship?

Through short videos, visual guides, interactive tools, and real stories, this portal is here to replace myths with facts, build familiarity, and support informed decision‑making. You do not need technical knowledge or prior experience – just curiosity!
